Abhishek defends Deepika Padukone

Much against all the flak that the title track of 'Dum Maaro Dum' is receiving for its lyrics, Abhishek Bachchan defends Deepika Padukone's item number.

Recently there were rumours doing the rounds that Abhishek Bachchan was kind of insecure with Deepika Padukone's item number in Dum Maaro Dum and insisted director Rohan Sippy to have a promotional music video designed around his character of ACP Kamat in the film. That's how Thayn Thayn came into picture.

However Abhishek Bachchan puts a rest to all such rumours and on the contrary is going gaga over Deepika Padukone's item song. In fact, much against all the flak that the item number has been receiving for its lyrics, Abhishek defends the song saying, "We have 1.20 billion people in India and all can't like the song. But the fact is it's topping all radio charts and playing everywhere including night clubs, which means the youth have connected and loved the track. It's doing extremely well and I am very happy with the response that Deepika's number has got".

Also director Rohan Sippy negates the idea that Abhishek Bachchan's promotional video Thayn Thayn was incorporated because Deepika Padukone's item number was overshadowing the lead protagonist. "We always wanted a song for Abhishek's character even before we had thought of Deepika's item number", clarifies Rohan. "But unlike in Bluffmaster where the character had a lot of flair and flamboyance, the character of ACP Kamat was not an easy one to crack. So we kept it on backburner".
